Minimah seeks Secretary of State office

By Richard Ivory

Charles Minimah, a Republican entrepreneur; is running for Secretary of State for the state West Virginia. Looking at his agenda particularly in the area of small business growth it seems like he has allot of great ideas. While looking over his site we at HHR noticed and discussed amongst ourselves; how notably absent from his websites was his party affiliation that he is even a Republican. The climate must be really bad if you have to run without the Party label. Mr. Minimah seems to be a social conservative something I am not but he seems to cover this up with his emphasis on entrepreneurial opportunity. Whether or not West Virginia is ready for Mr. Minimah will be telling, especially given the states dismal record of electing blacks to state office.

Richard: I also am a republican voter who is not a "social conservative." I would like people like us to make a bigger impression on the republican party. The republicans seem to have only two views of "social issues":

1. The liberal "everything goes" and the government pays for peoples' personal choice mistakes.

2. The "social conservative" view of banning gay marriage, drugs, flag-burning, and abortions, and promoting religion in official government resources.

They omit a third perspective: libertarian. Let people do what they want, as long as they don't take or damage my property or own liberties. And no government paying to fix up a person's own mess.
