Guilty as Charged..Ka-ching!

by Richard Ivory

Wow! What a crazy few month's this has been! While our nations economic system burns to the ground our leaders sip wine and play the fiddle. The truth be told no one is innocent regarding this economic situation. The greedy boys on Wall Street are just as guilty, as the greedy "flip the house"purchaser's on main street, the regulators and the deregulators are obviously guilty, the borrowers and the lenders are guilty as hell. You and I who live beyond our means are guilty. The Republican Party is guilty for pushing for less deregulation while not foreseeing or preventing its consequences. The Democrat Party is guilty for cozying up to big business in order to maintain votes and cash at the expense of poor people's hope for a better life. The net result of this political failure is that all Americans are left with "political crumbs". Of course this has not been a good few months for Republicans, it seems as if Sen. McCain's campaign is showing "the entire world" how not to win an election.

If the tide continues I predict Barack Obama will win this election. If this happens I suspect our country will get through it and embrace him. I remember some years ago when Obama won his senate seat, I along with a few friends were watching the polls come in for Bush, when I motioned to friend saying ya know "I like this guy".I keep going back to this experience because I had never heard him speak on any major policy issue I just knew I liked him.

I think at the end of the day the McCain's campaign of asking Who is Obama? will fail. The reason for this is everytime people see Obama with his daughters and interact with his wife they feel they know him. I suspect that there is a side to Barack Obama as with all fallen men that we have not seen, that Is hidden. The biography's of all presidents Democrat and Republican can attest to this. But if there is such a thing as
a mask behind the real Obama he has done a great job of hiding it. If it is a genuine mask the truth will come out in time and he will be exposed. There is difference between a candidate "who can lead you" and a candidate who "you would like to lead you".

If this election is about "who can lead you" then the Republican Sen. John McCain despite what the polls say will win hands down however if this election is a question of "who I would like to lead me"...then Obama is our new president. If history is any predictor of things to be whoever wins this nation will remain strong and free with or without them.

do people quickly forget that mccain was involved with the keating savings and loan scandal of the early 90s or how he cheated on his wife after he returned from vietnam and she was in a car accident? his choice of palin as running mate appears to be a last ditch effort to attract conservative republicans back into the republican fold. i think there is still room to disagree that mccain is the most qualified of the two candidates to lead the country, based on experience and honor.

Anonymous, whatever Senator McCain's failings, I assure you supping with William Ayers nor breaking bread with Rev. Wright, is among them.
